Urban Bungalow Tree House

There are many world-famous trees; Isaac Newton’s apple tree, The Bodhi Tree in India, and the chestnut tree that gave Ann Frank hope and comfort from her attic window. But no single tree is as important as the one in a small yard a mere stone’s through from skyscrapers and the asphalt jungle. It represents this family’s connection with earth and heaven. It’s become their urban sanctuary. Figuratively as well as literally.

One might ask ‘does the tree hug the house or the house hug the tree?’ The answer is YES!
The welcoming, functional and fun Dutch split door is bookended with shelves for storage or display. The window opens to the deck where the tree feels like an ever-present friend standing guard.
Sometimes city folk just need a place to escape to. This quaint country getaway is only 37 short steps away.and tree began to look less odd and more like something out of a fairy-tale that nature thought up on its own.
This gable bracket detail was crafted for interest and to bring attention to the rich and exotic cedar tongue and groove ceiling. Small details like this may initially go unnoticed. But once seen, you can’t imagine life without them.
All the cedar siding for the exterior walls was milled on site for quality control and to ensure a seamless shiplap connection. Then they were clear coated for a richer look and to protect the boards from discoloration.
The interior is fully insulated with double pane windows. High-end engineered flooring is durable and low maintenance. Painted a brilliant white for added light the walls themselves are Hardie board ultra-strong with board and batten molding strips added for a rustic chic look.
The cedar tree rail posts add a rustic charm while the decking, steps and railings are pressure treated wood adding decades of structural integrity. The stain on the decking and railing compliments the overall color palette of the tree, surroundings and the treehouse siding.
Al fresco is Italian for in the fresh air. This under deck eating area acts like a pergola for outdoor dining which can be a welcomed treat. But in Texas, summer shade is mandatory. Or as they say in Italian oblligatori.
